Sport at Pangbourne is all about building character, developing teamwork, and nurturing a lifelong love of sport. Here's a quick guide to the sports your children will be playing and competing in the Michaelmas term.
The Main Competitive Sports Line up:
Year 7 & 8 Boys: Football
Years 7 & 8 Girls: Hockey
Year 9 - Seniors Boys: Rugby
Year 9 - Seniors Girls: Hockey
Senior Specialties
For our Senior students, the Michaelmas term also offers elite competitive pathways in two of Pangbourne’s performance sports:
Rowing: Utilising our access to the River Thames to build endurance and elite boat work.
Riding: Opportunities for equestrians to train, refine their horsemanship, and represent the College.
Saturday Sports Commitments
Saturday sport commitments are a fundamental part of the day-to-day life and culture here at Pangbourne.
All match schedules and location details for the Michaelmas term can be found on the Pangbourne College Sports Website. Please check the portal regularly for updates as cup fixtures due to their nature will be added late.
We hope you have an enjoyable Summer break and look forward to seeing you on the side lines supporting our students in the Michaelmas term.Mr Joe Mills, Director of Sport

We would like to remind parents that, from now on, all requests for leave during the school day for medical appointments must have proof of the appointment attached to the leave request.
Please also remember that all requests for leave that take place during the school day must be submitted through the school’s leave request portal. This includes appointments, family commitments and other planned absences.
The only exception is illness on the day. If your child is unable to attend school due to illness, please email the child’s Division directly in the usual way. There is no need to submit a portal request for illness on the day.
We appreciate your support in following these procedures, which help us to maintain accurate attendance records and ensure the safety and wellbeing of all pupils.
Thank you for your cooperation.
Mr Mark Skidmore, Deputy Head Pastoral

As we come to the end of the year, I am really pleased how the Lower Sixth have ‘stepped up’ in the last few weeks. I enjoyed spending time with them during Taking Responsibility Week and watching how they fully engaged with all the arranged activities with no complaints about the heat!
As they now leave for their Summer break, they have been reminded about the work that they need to do over the next few weeks. Their teachers will have set them Summer work and they have also been encouraged to engage with super-curricular activities which have been shared with them on Google Classroom. They are strongly encouraged to start drafting their personal statements and they will receive 1:1 support with this from myself and their tutors on their return in September.
I hope they all manage to find a good balance between preparing for Upper Sixth with spending time with family and friends creating some wonderful memories. I look forward to welcoming them back in September.

As the class of 2026 leave us, I have been reflecting on the journey that they have been on. There have undoubtedly been both ups and downs and that is part of a young person’s school experience but they have been stoic dealing with the changes at the end of their Lower Sixth Year. As we started back in September in the Sixth Form Centre, it gave me the opportunity to get to know the Upper Sixth a lot more. I saw them every morning, caught up with them between lessons, did a gentle nag here and there (!) but always reminded them that I was their biggest cheerleader. I am so proud of how they have grown over the past year and am excited to see what the future holds for them. I am looking forward to seeing them at their Leavers’ Ball in all their splendour and celebrating them for the amazing young people they are.
As they transition to becoming Old Pangbournians, we would like them to stay connected so they are encouraged to register on Pangbournian Connect using their personal email.
